I have always been fascinated with junk. I would find it almost anywhere. It's a true saying, that one person's junk is another's treasure. After building my log house, there was plenty of building materials hanging around. Elsewhere in the country side there were lots of things left abandoned here and there. Empty bottles, broken things like electric fans, rakes, shovels, lamp shades, baler twine, hoses, chains, chicken heating lamps, karosene lanterns -- it's quite simply endless. I gathered found stuff for a week, then one afternoon I set to task to assemble the pile of things. Then end result was another novel yard lawn sculpture.

On another occasion, I was invited to participate in the 10th anniversary of the Space Shuttle. The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum wanted to know what astronomical artists around the world could do with a small scale model of a Space Shuttle. They sent me a letter along with a plastic assembled model and left the creative spar to each artist. Approximately 36 artists were invited. Each artist's work was photographed and then printed up as a tiled group of images on a large commemorative poster. In exchange the artist's actual painted model was donated to archive of the NAS Museum. Here's my rendition of the Space Shuttle and contribution:
